In relationships people are often faced with tiresome struggles to make do in situations that are chosen out of their own volition. "Fighting for peace" shows these struggles by using alternating imagery of jaded tranquility and symbols of utter nightmares lent from pop culture horror movies.
Though the differences can be subtle at times, the series reflects the varying stages of inner turmoil - ultimately, the constant struggle for peace both with oneself and the people that we oh so willingly bind us to.
A project of conceptual photography, „Tesseract“ offers an intimate insight into human behaviour and emotional inner worlds. The intricate field of emotional conditions and individual - but always well-known - situations of human life are projected into a poetic surrounding.
In order to visualize this, fables, allegories and mythological narratives are made use of. Each of the chosen expressions is a strong visual metaphor meant to establish a moral code of ethics.
The space surrounding the model is starkly simplified and serves as an abstraction of the human condition pictured: a scaffold is the boundary and with its facing it mimics the human inside.
The requisites are minimalist - sometimes the protagonists are standing in an empty space only enclosed by threads. Often they are enrooted in their own worlds or tied to it.
Not the massive construct surrounding them is preventing them from escaping. Sometimes this is caused by nothing but a thread, which they seem not to be able to let go of.
"The Inmost Light" surveys urban and rural landscapes and the possibilities of getting lost in them... The series is about belonging and longing... about being incomplete and alone in a space occupied by thousands that seem to be present but cannot be seen.
